In 2008 the Alberta government emailed a DPA survey to 1901 principals who were then asked to forward it to their faculty members. This survey was intended to provide an opportunity for feedback on promising practices and challenges associated with the implementation of the DPA Initiative, 1025 surveys were completed from 83 different schools.
Half the surveys indicated that their schools were using the funding from the Alberta government mostly for new equitment and PD for their staff members.

Although this survey yielded fairly positive outlooks on DPA there is not much new information on DPA in Alberta schools, more relevant information is necessary to continue improving DPA. The main issues brought up were lack of resources and facilities and the difficulty of finding time in class schedules, teachers must be aided in fixing these problems in order to move forward.
